Meet MacKenzie.
Designer • Grower • Educator • Owner of Flourish Florals
Hi, I’m MacKenzie — a floral designer, beekeeper, and agricultural educator based in Frankfort, Kentucky. I grew up on my family’s 500-acre farm along the Kentucky River, where I learned to appreciate the rhythm of the seasons, the beauty of growing things, and the reward of working with my hands.
I studied Agricultural Education at Murray State University, where I took my first floral design class and realized how naturally flowers blend creativity, storytelling, and connection. While at Murray, I also founded the university’s apiary, bringing together my love of pollinators, plants, and sustainable growing practices.
Over the years, I’ve worked in several roles rooted in community and agriculture — including serving as an agriculture teacher, 4-H agent, and currently at the Kentucky Department of Agriculture in Agritourism, where I support farms that welcome visitors, educate communities, and help Kentucky’s agricultural heritage continue to thrive.
Alongside that work, I began designing florals for weddings and gatherings. What started as helping friends slowly grew into Flourish Florals — a way to combine my agricultural roots with my love of design.
Today, I create garden-inspired floral designs for weddings, celebrations, and community events throughout Central Kentucky. I use locally grown blooms whenever the season allows and supplement through trusted wholesalers to ensure the best possible color, freshness, and quality year-round.
My style is natural, romantic, and textural — thoughtful without being fussy. I believe flowers should feel alive, effortless, and reflective of the people they’re celebrating.
When I’m not designing, I’m usually gardening, sewing, crafting, or out on the farm with my two dogs, Lilly and Violet (who proudly consider themselves part of the floral team).
I love working with kind, down-to-earth people who value creativity, authenticity, and meaningful details.
If that sounds like you — I’d love to connect.
